Gail Everett Garrison's Obituary
Gail Everett Garrison 89, of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away September 13th 2025.
He was born August 25th, 1936 on a farm south of Independence, Kansas to Francis M. and Veva (Potter) Garrison. He grew up in Independence and attended Independence Schools, graduating in 1954.
Gail served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957 as a communications technician. Following the navy he attended Independence Community College and Emporia State Teacher’s College, earning his Bachelors and Masters degrees. After moving to Pittsburg he earned his Specialist degree from Pittsburg State University.
Most of his career in education was spent as a school counselor in the Pittsburg Public Schools.
He married Elizabeth Ann Heckert in 1954, she preceded him in death. He married Doris June Vandris in 1989.
He is survived by wife, Doris J. Garrison of Pittsburg, Kansas, a stepdaughter, Debra (Patrick) Anthony of Pittsburg, Kansas, a grandson Jason (Stefanie) Morgan of Meriden, Kansas, a granddaughter Kristen Anthony and one great granddaughter Ryleigh Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gregory D. Garrison, three brothers Francis M. Garrison Jr., Robert Garrison, Gene Garrison and a stepson Craig M. Vandris.
Memorial service will be at Highland Park Cemetery on Saturday September 20th at 11 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to Pittsburg State University Veterans Memorial. They may be left or mailed to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 South Broadway. Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg, Kansas.
