Beverly Jean Chouinard's Obituary
PITTSBURG, KS – Beverly Jean Fields Chouinard of Pittsburg was called home on July 23, 2016. Beverly was 80 years young and beloved by all who knew her.
Growing up in Independence, KS, she graduated Independence High School in 1954 and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Pittsburg State University in December of 1958.
Beverly married Milton “Mick” Chouinard on August 18, 1962. The couple moved to Pittsburg in 1968. She said she was blessed to have taught kindergarten for 43 years. She taught in Kansas City, KS for one year and at Lakeside Elementary for 42 years. One of her favorite sayings after teaching so long, she found in a newspaper clipping, after 40 years of teaching, the qualifications for a teacher are, ”To have the wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job”.
She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Pittsburg, the Rolls Royce Club and the Kansas Teachers Association.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Mick, her parents, Samuel Park and Letha McConnell Fields, her sister Twyla Marcean Fields Batman and two nephews Billy Chet Batman and Park Clayton “Clay” Batman.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Curtis Smith of Independence, and by all her loving nieces and nephews. She loved each and every one of us as if we were her own. She is also survived by very special friends Henry and Bonnie Ford of Pittsburg, KS.
Services will be 10 am Friday, July 29, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. Adah Hutch-Craft, officiating. Graveside services and burial will be 2 pm Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Harrisonville Cemetery in Independence, KS. Friends may call from 10 am to 5 pm Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS. Condolences may be left at our web site www.bathnaylor.com.
