Arnold Odell Burton's Obituary
Arnold Odell Burton 67, of Pittsburg, KS died peacefully in his home Saturday August 12, 2017.
Arnie was born July 31, 1950 in Panama, OK the son of Haskell Odell and Mildred Irene (Gleason) Burton. Arnie graduated from Pittsburg High School and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country for 20 years and earning the rank of Master Sergeant. Arnie completed a tour in Korea and was stationed in Alaska, which became his most loved frontier.
On March 7, 1999 Arnie married Carrie L. Wilson in Cape Canaveral, FL; she survives at the home. Following Arnie’s military service he returned to Pittsburg and worked for 25 years at Miller’s Professional Imaging in Pittsburg, KS. After retiring from Miller's, Arnold fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming an Auctioneer and Antique Trader; founding the Burton Trading Company on Highway 171.
Arnie was a Christian; he loved “picking” junk, fishing, grilling, and was an avid Pitt State and Royals fan. Arnie was a Master Photographer and Craftsman; he loved his animals and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; parents; children Mat Burton and wife Kelly Burton of Springfield, MO, Liberty Smith and husband Will Smith of Pittsburg, KS and Cassandra Quick and husband Zach Quick of Pittsburg, KS; siblings Nema Velia of Columbia, MO, Janie Spencer and husband Bobby of Pittsburg, KS, Martha Burton and Sheila Pelzl of Weir, KS and Roger Burton and wife Sandy of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren Grace, James, and Isabel Burton, Taeler Smith, and Layne Quick; many nieces, nephews and his devoted family pets Brewski, Teak, and Rollie.
A Celebration of Life will be 6:00pm Thursday August 17, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS where family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Joplin Humane Society in honor of Brewski.
