William L. "Bud" Soper's Obituary
William L. “Bud” Soper, Jr. 66 of Columbus, KS died March 21, 2024 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
He was born September 4, 1957 in Columbus the son of William L. Soper, Sr. and Lorene Comer Soper.
Bud graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1975.
He was married to Sandy Engroff in 1975, they later divorced. On October 24, 2015 he married Ida Wilson; she survives him of the home.
Bud worked for Stockade Mineral, Kansas Ammunition Plant, and truck driver for Highland Dairy and Pikes Fertilizer.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Columbus Fire Dept for many years. He was a former member of the Teamsters union and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include a son: Mike (Amber) Soper of Columbus; a daughter: Alicia (Steven) Hayes of Columbus; a sister: Cathy (Todd Tanner) Simpson of Columbus; five grandchildren: Alyvia Soper, Avry Soper, Cameron Soper, Myka Soper and Lesli Nieves, a great granddaughter Rhowen; three nieces and nephews, along with two honorary grandchildren: Poonpun & Roda and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim Soper.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Columbus, KS.
