William John "Jack" Meier, Jr.'s Obituary
William John “Jack” Meier Jr., 81, of Picayune, MS, formerly of
Pittsburg, KS died May 16, 2016 at the Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport,
MS. He was born February 27, 1935 in Lincoln County, KS the son of
William J. and Isa Mae Leinweber Meier. He had lived in El Dorado, KS,
Wichita, KS, Huntsville, MO, Clifton Hill, MO, Montrose Iowa, Kirksville,
MO, Pittsburg and Cherokee, KS, before moving to Mississippi. Jack
served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1962. On June 1, 1958
he married Billie Louise Peterson in Erie, KS and she preceded him in
death on December 11, 2012. Mr. Meier was an electrical engineer
working for DuPont for 28 years, retiring in 1994. Jack was a member of
the Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg, KS for many years.
Survivors include three sons; William Chris Meier of Baytown, TX, Kendal
Lewis Meier of Dalton, MO and Kevin Lynn Meier of Picayune, MS; also
two daughters Karen Louise Meier Faye of Kirksville, MO, and Kathy
Ann Meier of Kansas City, MO, eight grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 pm Wednesday May 25, 2016 at the
Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg, Kansas. Internment will be in
the Galesburg Cemetery, Galesburg, KS. Condolences and donations
may be left at the Countryside Christian Church in lieu of flowers.
