Velma D. Wehmeyer, 95, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2018. She was born October 6, 1923, the daughter of Thomas and Nobie Bath. She attended Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg and received a degree in Elementary Ed Read Obituary
When I was in elementary school, Sue was my "best friend" so I spent a lot of time with the Wehmeyer family. Velma was like a second mother. She took every little creature under her wing and made us feel loved and important. She was so beautiful in body and soul, tirelessly serving the Lord, her family, and the community. I got to know Velma through our Tuesday morning Bible Study group in which she participated.
I came to truly adore this wonderful lady; the stories she shared and the love that emanated from her was powerful indeed. I told her that since I lost my mom many years ago (I was just 23 when she passed), that she (Velma) was being adopted by me to serve that role in my life.
Even when she couldn't come to the Bible Study group, I made a point of dropping by her room to check in and let her know I was thinking of her. I very much LOVED Velma and will miss her in this life. However, I am confident that she is doing a jig of some kind on the other side - she was so ready to join her beloved husband. God speed my dear friend.
I am very sorry for your loss. I’m glad that I got to see Velma at her 95th birthday party. Velma was very good to me. I found her to be thoughtful, talented, intelligent, and kind.
