Thurma Masser's Obituary
Thurma Masser, 104 of Grandview, MO; formerly a longtime resident of the Girard, KS area died at 5:32 p.m. Thursday September 8, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Grandview.
She was born November 5, 1911 in rural Frontenac, KS near state Park corner, the daughter of Everet and Gertrude P. (Smith) Morey. She was a graduate of Frontenac High School and attended 1 year of business college. Thurma married Herman L. Masser on November 26, 1940 in Girard, KS; he preceded her in death on January 22, 1991. She was a homemaker and additionally a longtime member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Girard. Survivors include a son Herman E. Masser of Girard; a daughter Margaret Shepherd of Grandview, MO; a brother Jean Morey of McCune; 3 Grandchildren and 5 Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 brothers-Glenn, Merle, Carl, Roy and Ray Morey. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday September 16, 2016 at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Girard with Father Floyd McKinney as celebrant, burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg. The parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church where the family will receive friends following until 7:30 in the church parish hall.
