steve was my age.arma played college high and steve already started as a freshman.they calledhim bearfor a good reason and you didn,t want to let him get going too fast into the line or you were going to suffer. we playedcollege baseball and he got a hold of it,it was gone ever the wall at jaycee ballpark.never never a dull moment with steve-great shotputter also.
First met Steve when we played Legion ball together, but I had heard of him years before. He was all I had heard about and more. Not just one of the nicest people I have ever met, but one of the best long ball hitters I've ever seen. My parents and my family used to eat in Ottos often and Steve and Sherry always had a smile, a memory and a kind word to share. A major part of Pittsburg history has left us.

Wow, so young. My condolences Sherry. Steve really was a one of a kind and a pillar of the Pittsburg for all of my life as were his mom and dad. Even being gone for more than 40 years from Pittsburg, the last time I came to Ottos he remembered me and my name. and had welcoming words and memories of College High to share. I’ve known Steve since we were kids. I worked for his folks at Otto’s Cafe when I was in my early teens. We went to Methodist Church camp together. We played sports together at CHS, although he was much better than me. We have a lifetime of memories together. Steve you will be missed my friend. May you Rest In Peace. ❤️🐾🙏🏻
Sad to hear about Steve passing. I remember the last football game I ever played and the last play at Erie. We had to stop them on a two point play to win. Steve hit the ball carrier at the line and I hit Steve in the back to help stop them. He looked at me and said thanks. I will never forget it. I will miss him

Had coffee every morning with Jack Bache, Ed Hinde, John Lovell, etc before going to work for 18 years. Steve always had something to say greeting us and glad we were there.
