Ronald Francis Layden's Obituary
Ronald Francis Layden passed away on October 4, 2016.
He was born January 15, 1939 in Frontenac to Frank and Loriene (Zimmerman) Layden. Ron graduated from Frontenac High School in 1957 then went on to Pittsburg State University where he received his Bachelor and Master's Degree in Fine Arts Education. He was also a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity.
Ron and Marilyn (Smith) of Lawrence, KS were married in 1963. Two children were born to that union. Trevor F. Layden and Nicole Marie Layden. Later divorced in 1990.
After graduation Ron accepted a teaching position in Paola Kansas where he taught for 14 years. His students won many art awards statewide. Several went on to become professional artists or followed a degree in art.
In 1977 the family returned to Frontenac where Ron opened Ron's Dental Lab in Girard.
Ron remarried in 2015 to Sherry Litzsinger. She survives of the home, with two stepdaughters Alicia and Nichole Reigle.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Loriene Layden of Frontenac.
Additional include son Trevor Layden & fiancé Lynnette Moore of Arma, daughter Nicole (Josh) Ligon and grandson Luke of Chapel Hill, NC; sister Luanna Youvan of Frontenac; granddaughter Summer (Alex) McIntosh and great-granddaughter Autumn, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
