Roberta Jean Coomes' Obituary
Roberta Jean Coomes, 84 of Frontenac died at 8:10 pm, Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her home.
She was born August 20, 1938 in Parsons, KS the daughter of Ben and Marie (Purdon) Witty.
On March 2, 1962 she was united in marriage to Robert E. “Bob” Coomes in Miami, OK, he preceded her in death on December 31, 2012.
She and her husband Bob were the owner and operators of Coomes Steel Buildings and Coomes Self Storage.
She was a longtime area resident and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac.
Roberta worked at JcPenny’s as a clerk for many years
Survivors include a son Ben R. Coomes and a daughter Kyra Hensley both of Frontenac; three grandchildren Keele Allen and husband Travis, Natalie Christman and husband Jake and Karsyn Hensley and a great-grandchildren Karter Allen, Kanon Allen, Ketcher Allen all of Frontenac.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Bob.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Fr. Josh Evans as Celebrant. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Wake will be 6-8 pm Friday at the Friskel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends.
