Robert "Bob" Manka's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Manka, 53, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Bob was born on December 23, 1969 in Medford, Oregon. While little is known about Bob’s earlier life, he made his way to four-states area while traveling with the carnival, who is understood to have taken him in during his earlier years. Bob received services for many years from Mosaic in Pittsburg, Kansas. He loved Johnny Cash, was a regular participant in the Special Olympics, and was someone who never knew a stranger. Everyone was a friend to him, and his signature phrase “Do you remember me?” will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Although Bob lost contact with his original family, he is survived by many who have certainly earned the title. His close friends, Randy Brown and Laura Grotheer, as well as Sara Shank, who played an especially important role in Bob’s life.
He is preceded in death by his special friend and caregiver, Deanna Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home and Crematory in Pittsburg, KS. Close friends and family will then meet at 3pm at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS for burial. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the funeral at 12pm.
