Retha Ann Lemmons' Obituary
Retha Ann Lemmons, 84, former resident of Oakley, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at Ascension Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.
She was born August 4, 1934, in Oakley, KS, to John and Mabel (Trowbridge) McGuire. She graduated high school from Oakley High and attended college at Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas.
Retha was a lifetime member of the Wesleyan Church in Oakley and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a teacher for many years at Oakley Grade School.
Retha enjoyed crocheting, quilting, puzzle books, and games shows, such as Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and The Price is Right.
She is survived by her son; Randy Lemmons of Topeka, KS, daughter; Verla (Harold) Sheets, brother; Don McGuire of Bartlesville, OK, 4 sisters; Marthanell Turley of Scott City, KS, Elizabeth McGuire-Salters of Stockton, MO, Luellen (Keith) Ellegood of Oakley, KS, Vee Cox of Wichita, KS, grandchildren; Steve (Barbara) Cretsinger of Pittsburg, KS, Emily (Robby) Sheets of Minco, Oklahoma, Mary (Patrick) Weber of Hoxie, KS, 3 great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS. Inurnment will be at a later date at Hawkeye Cemetery in Rexford, Kansas. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral at 10 a.m. at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.
