Patricia Ann Flanders' Obituary
Patricia Ann Flanders of Pittsburg, KS passed on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 in Warrenton, VA following a short illness.
She was born on July 14,1929 in Leavenworth, KS, the daughter of Edward M. List and Hazel M. (Falk) List. She married John P. Flanders in Leavenworth, KS on June 1, 1949. John’s job as a paint store manager took them to Manhattan, KS, Excelsior Springs, Mo, Leavenworth, KS, St. Joseph, MO, before finally moving to Pittsburg, KS in 1972. John worked for Cook Paint for 37 years and Sherwin Williams for 12 years before retiring in 1993. Pat resided at Carrington Place from 2014 to March 2021, before living with her daughter and family in Warrenton, VA. Pat and John enjoyed retirement for 19 years with a love of family, camping and traveling. They never knew a stranger and were friendly to all. John preceded Pat in death in 2012.
Pat & John were members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. Both were former members of the YMCA, Scouts, the Sertoma Club, National Campers and Hikers Assoc., the Big Brutus Good Sams Camping Club of Pittsburg, involved in Knights of Columbus and ladies auxillary, and the ladies altar society. Pat delivered Meals on Wheels for over 30 years, with John joining her after his retirement. Survivors include son T. Michael Flanders of Las Cruces, NM, daughter Denise S. Guinn and husband Sterling of Warrenton, VA, Marty Flanders and wife Donna of Lewisville, TX: 6 grandchildren Megan A. Bishop, Matthew R. Connell, Rachel J. Flanders, Elizabeth M. Lobaugh, J. Harrison Flanders, and Mary A. (Guinn) Clark, and 10 great-grandchildren in Kansas and Texas. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and sister Edith M. (List) White of Mojave, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Jerome Spexarth as celebrant. The parish rosary will be recited prior to the Mass at 10 am at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund or the donor’s choice. Memorials may be brought by or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home at 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
