Pamela A Musick's Obituary
Pamela Ann Musick, age 76 of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away Thursday, September 28th at her home.
Pamela was born November 20, 1946.
She attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated High School in 1964. She then graduated from PSU with Masters degree in Early Education in 1969. Then she taught grade school in Kansas City, MO for few years. Then she went back to Kansas University and went to night school then graduated with Masters Social Worker degree in 1984.
In 1980 she started her journey of Sobriety and Alcoholic Anonymous. She continued in the program all her life (43 yrs) thanks to Robert "Daddy" Musick and the role he played in her sobriety. Bless you Robert. She had great success due to Betty Bartholomew's help also.
Also in 1980 she got involved with alcohol and drug counseling along side Betty Bartholomew & Crawford County Mental Health. She worked to bring awareness to the community and helped with how addiction affects the family.
She started work in 1984 in as State of Kansas as Quality Control and Person Center Plans for children and adults with developmental disabilities for 32 years. She always insisted on seeing "Life through their eyes" and she excelled in her time serving people in 12 counties in SE Kansas 24/7. She loved her clients
Pam’s joy in life came from her Paso Fino horses that she raised, help train and most of all as "Trail Rider". Her dream in life was to “Ride her own horses Anywhere she could”. Often traveling with her horses to Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Alabama, Virgina and Florida. She lived life with her horses always. She felt as one with the horse while living her dream. "It was never the horses fault" she'd say.
She was well admired for her singing talent and theater work. She performed as cabaret singer from 1967 thru 1991. Jim Benson was her perfoming partner, pianist and very dear friend since high school. In 1970 thru 1973 they performed at the Plaza III and Roaring 20s club in Kansas City. Also In 1990 Hotel Stillwell dedication, and several performances in 1967 at McCray Hall in Pittsburg Kansas. They last performed together in May 2022. Thank you Jim for all of your time together with Pamela.
Pam was very appreciative of her entire healthcare people over the recent years. Thank you.
Pamela is survived by her life companion of 23 years Steven Chancey of the their home in Pittsburg.
She also is survived by daughter Emily Fogelman and husband Nick of Liberty, MO., and her two sons Jonas Heter of Kansas City, MO and Max Heter of Atchison, KS.
Also, she had five grandchildren Mia Heter George Heter, Dylan Musick, Cecelia Fogelman and Lori O’Malley and great grandchildren who she loved.
Other survivors include sister-in-law Shirley Hamilton of Verona, Mo. and many nieces and nephews who she loved and enjoyed spending time with ALL of then. Pamela is preceded in death by her parents James and Julia Hamilton her sister Janet Hamilton, her brother William Pete Hamilton and her brother Jim Hamilton.
