Nolene J. Ross' Obituary
Nolene J. Ross 84, of Pittsburg, KS died 1:34am Tuesday September 13, 2016 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following an illness.
Nolene was born in West Mineral, KS the daughter of Noel J. and Madeline (Calso) Mahy. Nolene graduated from West Mineral High School in 1949 and was the valedictorian of her class and the winner of the Ballfour Medal Scholarship Loyalty Achievement.
On June 29, 1950 Nolene married Clifford R. Ross in Scammon, KS. They lived in Weir, KS until 1967 before moving to Pittsburg. Clifford preceded her in death on April 22, 2003. Nolene was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg, KS; NARFE; AARP and the National Active and Retired Employees Association. In 1992 Nolene worked for the Billy Graham Crusade in Pittsburg, KS. Nolene retired from the United States Census Bureau after 28 years of service before deciding to go back to work for 20 years at Wal-Mart.
Survivors include her daughters Nancy Scott and husband Gary of Eudora, KS and Diana Perrin and husband Kenneth of Pittsburg, KS; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Nolene was preceded in death by her parents; sister Doreta (Mahy) Johnson and nephew Frankie Johnson.
Memorial Services will be 10:00am Saturday September 17, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will be at a private later date at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Nazarene Church in Pittsburg, KS and/or SEK Humane Society.
