Nellie Lavon West's Obituary
Nellie Lavon West passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Golden
Living Center in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born January 28, 1921 to Walter and Maggie Willey in Weir, KS
and grew up in the Mulberry, KS area.
She was married to Jack West, who preceded her in death.
She and her husband lived in western Kansas for awhile. They managed
motels in the Pittsburg and the Kansas City area for a few years. In her
later years, she worked in the kitchen of Otto's Cafe retiring due to poor
health.
She resided in the Stillwell Apartments for several years.
She was a member of the Free Holiness Church.
She has been a resident of Golden Living since 2010,
She is survived by a nephew and niece, George and Donna Shoemaker
and their daughter, Amy who all helped provide for her care for the last
32 years. She is also survived by a brother. Short Willey of Arma, KS
and several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Shelley Corley.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Maxine Shoemaker, Goldie
Gaston, Noma Lyden, Nadine Emerson and by brothers Jim Willey, Perry
Willey, Louis Willey, Willard Willey and Bud Willey.
Graveside services will be 10 am Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Bird
Cemetery with Randy Woods officiating. Friends and family are
requested to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 am to follow in procession
to the cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.bathnalyor.com.
Memorials may be made to the Holiness Church at 5th & Fairview; these
may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Services by Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
