Millard John Cronister's Obituary
Millard John Cronister 84, loving husband and father, from Pittsburg, KS died at 8:40am Friday May 26, 2023 at the Belton County Regional Medical Center.
Millard was born April 1, 1939 in Pittsburg, KS the son of William Sylvester and Lucille (Allred) Cronister. Millard graduated from St. Mary’s Colgan High School and later attended the Community College of the Air Force and Pittsburg State University. Millard honorably served his country during the Cold War in the United States Army and later United States Air force for a combined 23 years and received several commendations. While stationed in South Korea in the early 1960s, Millard met the love of his life, Okja Lee. They later married on January 11, 1965 in Seoul, South Korea. She survives at the home in Pittsburg, KS. After his discharge and retirement from the military, Millard worked as an Electronics Technician for the Sacramento, CA Army Depot and then the United States Department of Commerce (NOAA) for nearly 40 years of civilian public service. Millard was of the Christian Faith; he enjoyed in his free time amateur radio, electronics, and reading.
Survivors include his wife; children David Cronister and wife Melinda of Lawrence, KS and Catherine Marie Brown and husband Jay of Frisco, TX and sister Janet Edwards of Pittsburg, KS.
Millard was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janice Cronister.
Memorial Services will be 11:00am Saturday June 17, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS where full military honors will be conducted, a reception will follow after the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
