Mildred Berniece Knight's Obituary
Mildred Berniece Knight was born on December 17, 1943, to Mary Ruth (Wells) McCardie and Wilmer Duncan McCardie, and grew up in the town of Briscoe.
She married the love of her life, Harold Hugh Knight, on February 22, 1963 and they welcomed 2 children; Karen Ruth (Knight) Davis in 1964 and Harold Eugene Knight in 1967. Berniece and Harold remained devoted to each other for sixty-two years until her death.
She was saved in March of 1959 and later sanctified, serving God faithfully the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Knight; her daughter, Karen Davis; and her son, Eugene Knight (& wife Sherice); as well as eight beloved grandchildren: Brandon Davis, Ashley Davis, Brent “Buck” Blake (& wife Kim), Ben Blake (& wife Jessica) Kendra Veyon (& husband Joel), Kasey Blake, Kylee Knight, and Kamillia Goins (& husband Devon).
She is also survived by 9 wonderful Great-grandchildren: Johnathan (LJ) Davis, Cooper Blake, Sawyer Blake, Coleman Blake, Addison Blake, Willow Knight, Baylor Blake, Ledger Blake, and Anastasia Vera.
Additionally she is survived by 3 nieces, Vicky Thornhill, Janet Reed, and Freida Wegener, and 3 nephews, Scott McCardie, Nathan Detmer, and Duncan Prior, as well as a host of other extended family on Harold’s side of the family. She is also cherished by brother-in-law George Prior (& wife Jan), and bro-in-law Keith Knight (& wife Charla) as well as sis-in-law Carol “Cookie” McCardie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer Duncan McCardie and Mary Ruth (Wells) McCardie, her brother, Willard McCardie, her sisters Betty Detmer, Ethel Thornhill, and Voleta Prior, and nephews Dewayne McCardie, and Brian McCardie, great-niece Cody Vernon; great-nephews Dustin Vernon and Zac Eytcheson.
God took her home at 8:33 am on July 9, 2025 with her loved ones by her side.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Friday July 25, 2025 at the Scammon Holiness Mission in Scammon, KS with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Cemetery in Labette County, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 6-7:00pm Thursday July 24, 2025 at the Scammon Holiness Mission in Scammon, KS. Flowers are preferred, however if you choose, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to Scammon Holiness Mission.
