Mildred I. Jones' Obituary
Mildred I. Jones 77, of Pittsburg, KS died 7:45pm Monday April 4, 2016
at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following an illness.
Mildred was born November 1, 1938 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of
Thurman G. and Oliva J. (Kasiah) Toney. She was a lifelong resident of
the area and attended area schools.
On June 19, 1963 Mildred married Stephen R. Jones Sr. in Oklahoma;
he preceded her in death in June of 2007. Mildred worked for various
nursing homes as a nurses’ aide.
Mildred was of the Christian Faith; enjoyed crafts, artificial flowers,
camping, fishing, playing bingo and spending time with family and
friends.
Survivors include her children Don Varin of Pittsburg, KS, Renee
Newman of Ft. Scott, KS, Stephen R. Jones Jr. and wife Nettie of
Kingman, KS, Arthur Jones and wife Amy of Kingman, KS and Billy Jones
and wife Misty of Larned, KS; siblings Carl Toney of Brazilton, KS and
Mary Large of Pittsburg, KS; 16 grandchildren and many great-
grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son David
Jones, and siblings Don, Bob, Bill Toney and Shirley Rodriguez.
Graveside Services will be 11:00am Monday April 18, 2016 at the Ft.
Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS with Pastor Marcee Bender
officiating. Family will receive friends from 9-10:00am prior to the
service at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of
flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of
memorials to the Wesley House. Friend may drop off or mail memorials
to the Bath- Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS
