Michael Noel Close's Obituary
Michael Noel Close 64, born November 1, 1953 died at his home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas on December 21, 2017.
Michael is a 1972 graduate of Pittsburg High School and a 1977 graduate of Pittsburg State University with a BS in Political Science. He was also active in Pittsburg DeMolay. He served as a Congressional intern for the late Joe Skubitz in 1977. He worked for newspapers in Grove, Sapulpa, and Claremore Oklahoma before becoming the editor of the Times-Herald in Abilene, Kansas where he was for several years.
He is survived by 1st cousins, David F. Close, Arma, KS, Marianne Kerr Shawnee, KS, Mitch White of Carlsbad, CA, Mendy White of Torrance, CA, and Brian White of Huntington Beach, CA. As well as numerous other cousins and aunts and uncles.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents Donald A. Close and Melva J. Close and by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2:30pm with Father Tom Stroot officiating. Family will receive friends prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. Burial of cremains will be in the family plot in Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Family requests no flowers, but suggests contributions to the Lords Diner in Pittsburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Bath Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS.
