Mary Bernice Mynatt's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of beloved mother and Grandmother Mary Bernice Mynatt at 9:15 PM, Friday July 5, 2024, in Southwest Florida of an illness while surrounded by loved ones.
Bernice was born April 14, l938, in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Frank and Aleda Schuckman. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas Arlington and master's in fine arts at Warren Wilson college. She was a published poet, and co-chair of the Poetry Department at Georgia Tech University, but her true love was teaching.
Bernice married William Clyde Mynatt on August 18, l956, and were happily married for 66 years until his passing in 2022. Survivors include daughter Arienne Alicia, son William Jason, and only grandchild Aubrey Elizabeth Mynatt.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS, with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. A burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
