Mary Louise Bresnick's Obituary
Mary Louise Bresnick 85, of Pittsburg, KS died 10:28pm Saturday March 19, 2022 at the Healthcare Resort of Olathe, KS following a brief illness.
Mary Louise was born April 16, 1936, in Frontenac, KS, the daughter of Jules and Helene Francis (Kerns) Crosetto. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Pleasanton High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Education in 1957, from Kansas Teacher’s College in Pittsburg, KS, now Pittsburg State University, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
On June 25, 1960, Mary Louise married Paul Edward Bresnick at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, KS. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2006. Mary Louise worked as a teacher in Cherokee, KS for several years before her marriage and raising her family. Mary Louise was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar Society, and a perpetual member of the Rosary Shrine of St. Jude. She enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her grandkids. For many years. Mary Louise raised funds for gifts that were given to nursing home residents, who did not have family, around the holidays. She also was a staunch advocate for the unborn.
Survivors include her children: Mary Judene Nance and husband David R. of Pittsburg, KS; and Julie Newmaster and husband Dan of Olathe, KS; brother, J. Stephen Crosetto and wife Mary Lynne of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren, Katie Nance-Kolarik and husband John, Melissa Newmaster, Maria Newmaster and Brian Newmaster.
Mary Louise was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Saturday March 26, 2022 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Labenz as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. The Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm Friday March 25, 2022, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends following the rosary. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
