Martha Ann Flanagan's Obituary
Martha Ann Flanagan 76, of Columbus, KS died 1:51pm Thursday February 26, 2026 at her home following an illness.
Martha was born December 7, 1949 in Parsons, KS the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Genoa (Keepper) Zinn. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Columbus High School. She later attended and graduated from Kansas State University and Pittsburg State University earning a degree in Vocational Education. On July 3, 1970 Martha married Charles P. Flanagan in Columbus, KS; he survives at the home.
Martha worked for the Vocational Education USD 493 and the K-State Research and Extension Office Cherokee, KS.
Martha was a member of the of the First United Methodist Church Columbus, KS; KARSP-CKCO Retired School Personnel; Sheridan Homemakers FCE; as a teacher had two teams join State and National Gold Medal Awards; Forecast Magazine Bulletin Board Design Peer Communication First Year Teacher; Kansas Soybean Commission Educator of the Year; Kansas First Timer Award-KEAFCS and New Professional Award; Kansas State Treasurer for KEAAFCS; KAFCS State Treasurer President District J and Vice President District J; Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society in Education -Phi Upsilon Omicron Honorary Professional Fraternity.
Survivors include her husband; daughter Shannon Justice and husband Jay; sister Linda Parker Palmer and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents.
