Margaret Ann New's Obituary
Margaret Ann New 89, of Pittsburg, KS died 8:40pm Wednesday July 19. 2023 at her home following an illness.
Margaret was born December 29, 1933 in Bono, Arkansas the daughter of Dewey Sampson and Janie Margaret (Montgomery) Barrow. Margaret has been a part of the Pittsburg community since 1971.
On July 13, 1968 Margaret married Harold New in Greenbrier, Arkansas; he survives at the home.
Margaret had many jobs in her life including picking cotton in her early years; to working in a shoe factory; a piano factory and later a CNA at New Horizons in Pittsburg, KS. She also will be remembered as a housewife. Margaret was a member of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church; she enjoyed quilting, making dolls, stuffed animals and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her husband; children Jim Lane and wife Debbie of Wichita, KS, Steven New and wife Mary of Pittsburg, KS, Robbin Lane of Pittsburg, KS, Benny Lane and wife Brenda of Grove, Oklahoma, Kent New and wife Leslie of Clearwater, FL, Keith New of Joplin, MO, Maleah New of Pittsburg, KS, Andra New of Pittsburg, KS and Jeanette Ablondi of Arkansas; brothers Marvin Barrow and wife Reba of Arkansas and Melvin Barrow and wife Jan of Arkansas; grandchildren Lacey Hutto, Shawn Lane, Clinton Lane and wife Stacey, Tyler Lane, Allyson New and Austin New and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren D’Kaiya Hutto, Zoey Mason, Kylie New, Raleigh Prossick, Justin Lane, Cody Lane, Heidi Lane, Savannah Lane, Jesse Lane, Stason Lane, Ciron Lane, Seyena Lane and Cliona Lane; great-great grandson David Josiah New.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Barrow, sisters Ellen, Rose and Linda Kay, children Margaret Fay and Tommy Dale and grandson Brandon Lane.
Graveside Services will be 10:00am Wednesday July 26, 2023 at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS with Chaplain Johnny Adkins officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services. Family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm Tuesday July 25, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; friends may call after 2:00pm Tuesday. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
