Lieselotte Mocnik's Obituary
Lieselotte Mocnik, age 96, of Springhill, Kansas, passed away on December 11, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Senior Living in Spring Hill.
Formerly of Pittsburg, Kansas, Lieselotte led a life rich in experiences that spanned continents and cultures. Born on April 23, 1927, in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Wilhelm Scheurig and Henrietta Schmitt. She was raised in Germany, graduating high school there . On February 26, 1947, she married Jack J Mocnik Sr, a decorated soldier of the allied army liberating Europe.
After marrying Jack, who had transferred to the Army Air Corps(to become US Air Force),she came to America on April 14,1948,becoming a US citizen on June 23 ,1953. Lieselotte traversed the United States and overseas, living in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma where her 3 children were born, and Kansas when Jack was sent to Labrador. She went on to California, Germany, Colorado, Missouri, and Okinawa after which Jack retired and they came to live in Pittsburg Kansas in 1965.
A dedicated homemaker, Lieselotte commitment extended beyond her home. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kansas, she served on the Altar Society, Saint Paul Society, SNPJ Lodge 225, Sivio Slovenic Singers, and AARP. She generously volunteered for Goodwill, church cleaning, funeral dinners, and Meals on Wheels.
Lieselotte is survived by her two sons, Dr. Jack Mocnik of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mark Mocnik of Gardner, Kansas, daughter Paula Gardner of Kansas City, Missouri, five grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, with burial following at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 10 AM prior to the Mass at the church. After the burial, a funeral dinner will be served at the church’s field house.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Services are entrusted to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, Kansas.
