LaVerda R. Biggerstaff's Obituary
LaVerda R. Biggerstaff 89, of Baxter Springs, KS formally of Columbus, KS died 9:56am Wednesday August 4, 2021 at her home following an illness.
LaVerda was born April 25, 1932 in Afton, OK the daughter of Claude M. and Susanna C. (Wallis) Rider. She lived in this area most of her life but graduated from Afton High School in Afton, OK. On September 25, 1958 LaVerda married Roy D. Biggerstaff in Miami, OK; he preceded her in death on August 8, 1981. LaVerda worked at Elm Acres Youth Home as a house parent and a cook for Columbus schools. LaVerda was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, KS; she loved to read, ipad games, her family and most of all her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Desma Sisco and husband Gary of Baxter Springs, KS and Doug Biggerstaff and wife Jackie of Columbus, KS; brother Joe Rider of Afton, OK; grandchildren Justin Henderson and wife Liz of Baxter Springs, KS, Monica Moore of Baxter Springs, KS, Katia Burns and husband Aaron of Edmond, OK, Benjamin Biggerstaff and wife Jessica of Columbus, KS and Breah Biggerstaff of Columbus, KS and 6 great-grandchildren.
LaVerda was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
Graveside Services will be 2:00pm Monday August 9, 2021 at the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS with Pastor Eric Hurd officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services.
