Karen June Marrone's Obituary
Karen June Marrone 74, of Frontenac, KS died 2:47am Tuesday July 1, 2025 at her home following a valiant fight against cancer.
June graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1969 and later earned a nursing degree from Labette Community College, where she became a Registered Nurse. She worked for St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, MO and Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, KS and had many great friends as a result of her time there.
June was born June 5, 1951 in Murphy, North Carolina, the daughter of Randall Dean and Maxine Luella (Cullison) Hartley.
June is survived by her partner, Rick Marrone of Frontenac, KS, her daughter, Rachel Coates of Pittsburg, KS; her sister, Connie Garason of Spokane, WA, and her grandchildren Masyen and Ryleigh Coates, who were the light of her life. She also had many nieces and nephews who she treated as if they were her own and who will miss her greatly. She was a wonderful person and friend to all.
June was of the Christian faith; she loved music, the beach, and spending time in nature, and spent many hours at the dog park and walking her beloved dog, Jules.
June loved to travel and had many memorable trips over the years, including a trip with all of her sisters to Las Vegas where they celebrated their closeness and just enjoyed making new memories.
June was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Elizabeth Hartley-Keith and Lorraine Goodwin.
Private Services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of memorials to Harry Hynes hospice.
