Karen Ann Cox's Obituary
Our beloved Mom, Grandma, Gigi and Friend, Karen Ann Cox of Little Rock, AR passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024 in Pittsburg, KS at the age of 77.
Karen was born in Concordia, KS on December 6, 1946 to John and Lillie Mae Metro. She was raised in Salina, KS with her 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She married Martin Cox in Salina, KS in 1964. Martin was in the Air Force at the time so they were stationed in several locations before settling in Austin, TX. Together they raised their two boys, Tony and Andy until Martin’s passing in 1973.
While raising two young children Karen earned her teaching degree and the family moved to Arkadelphia, AR where she began teaching Special Education for 30+ years in the Arkansas school systems.
She met Don Scott at a Parents without Partners dance. They danced thru the remainder of their lives together sharing their families and love with all. They made their home in Little Rock, AR for 40 years.
Karen was an adventurous soul who loved traveling and the beach. She had a very special group of friends that she loved. They traveled many places together, had slumber parties, played games and supported each other just like family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Martin Cox, partner Don Scott, brother Lewis and nephew Stephen.
Survivors include Sons, Tony (Lori) Cox, Andy (Debbi) Cox. Stepsons, Eric (Amy) Scott and Chris Scott. Brothers, Father LeRoy Metro and Ron (Ellie) Metro. Sisters, Lynette (Eddie) Williamson and Janet (Terry) Winter. Grandsons, Sean (Beth) Cox, Cody (Brittany) Cox, Samual Cox. Granddaughters, Fahren (Dan) Brown, Aubrey (Steven Piercy) Potter, Kaitlyn Cox, Rebekah (Roy) Lewallen and Mary (Landon) Huggins. 12 Great Grandchildren who adored their Gigi. Plus many nieces, nephews and her very special group of friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 31 at 1pm at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S Broadway, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
