Juanita Fern Aikman's Obituary
Juanita (Fern) Aikman 94, of Pittsburg, KS died 3:00am Thursday August 9, 2018 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS.
Fern was born December 27, 1923 in Mindenmines,MO the daughter of Alva and Mary E. (Ison) Smith. She was a lifelong resident of the Pittsburg and West Mineral areas and was a graduate of West Mineral High School.
On December 12, 1945 Fern married William Aikman Jr. in Girard, KS; he preceded her in death on September 12, 1987.
Fern worked in her early years for the American Legion Office in Pittsburg, KS, ASC Office in Girard, KS, owned and operated a snack bar at Holiday Lanes, and Managed Crestwood Country Club. She earned her Real Estate License in 1980 and later worked as a Realtor for H&H Agency and Heartland Realty. Fern was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church Pittsburg, KS; Martha Circle and AARP #2814.
Survivors include children Bill D. Aikman and wife Menzie of Spicewood, TX and Jacque Lynn Aikman Topeka, KS; grandchildren Jeffrey Gartin and
Autumn, and William Aikman and Charlene; great-granddaughter Michaela McLean and great-great grandson Jace Cunningham.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald, Alva and Walter Smith and sister Ella Mae Smith.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am Monday August 13, 2018 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Tom Wehrman officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery
in Pittsburg, KS. Family will receive close friends and family from 6-7:00pm Sunday August 12, 2018 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; friends may call after 12:00pm Sunday. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
