Sorry to Cathy and family for their loss. I remember spending the night and she would be in the kitchen or frontroom doing her own thing.

Joyce was an extremely lovely woman, and news of her passing deeply saddened those of us who knew her as a friend. I met Joyce several years ago when she became a member of the Joplin quilting guild. Joyce jumped in with both feet and never looked back. She amazed us all with her passion for quilting. She never disappointed our group at "Show & Tell". Most of us would bring one or two quilts to share occasionally but Joyce would bring between 3 to 7 quilts each time we met. While Joyce was a very knowledgeable and prolific quilter, she was not afraid of the "quilt police" - she was an artist. She created beautiful Quilts of Valor for men and women touched by war. She once told me these quilts were the civilian equivalent of a Purple Heart stitched with,"love, prayers and healing thoughts". I will miss the passion she brought to her craft and I will miss the generous woman that she was. To her family I extend my deepest sympathies.
I will remember Joyce as being both creative and generous. I loved quilting with her at retreats in Columbus, KS. It was a joy to see her face light up as she described her latest projects. She was always willing to share techniques she had learned and quilt designs she was enthusiastic about.
I was sadden to hear Joyce had passed. She was always so helpful with helping others at Pittsburg State University. Joyce loved doing her quilting and have Mike there to help. She made so many beautiful things. Our prayers go out to her family. We will miss her.
Joyce will be missed dearly,
Joyce was such a special member of the Joplin area Town and Country Quilters Guild. She was always willing to help others and generous with her knowledge and "tips". Her commitment to the Quilts of Valor type projects was inspiring. And she and Michael always participated in our community service projects - coming from Pittsburg to Joplin even when regular meetings were suspended to pick up "homework" kits. She was such a special person. I am glad I knew her and will greatly miss her.
