Joseph "Joe" C. Jackson's Obituary
Joseph C. “Joe” Jackson, 88 formerly of Franklin, KS died at 6:10 a.m. Monday September 5, 2016 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Girard.
He was born February 12, 1928 in Lacygne, KS the son of Peter Franklin and Elizabeth (Abny) Jackson. Joe was a truck driver working for Capital/Graves Truck line for 33 years retiring in 1986. He received the million mile plaque and several safe driving awards in his years of driving. After retirement he worked for his son Norman at Mid America Roofing; he worked until 2006 when he again retired to spend time with his wife. He married the love of his life Ruth A. Miller on June 7, 1963; she preceded him in death on November 9, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 12 siblings, 2 Grandsons Shayne Miller, Michael Yates and 1 Granddaughter Catina Tavernaro. Survivors include daughter Linda Goodwin and husband Glen of Blue Springs, MO; son Frank Jackson of Parsons; daughter Barbara Tavernaro and husband Tom of Frontenac; son Jim Jackson and wife Janet of Parsons, daughter Kay Thompson and husband Darrell of Weir, son Norman Miller and wife Nancy of Pittsburg, daughter Kathy Seeman of Franklin, daughter Connie Westhoff and husband Pat of Franklin; daughter Karen Parente of Pittsburg, KS and daughter Chanda Lee and husband Brandon of Chelsea, OK; 16 Grandchildren, 22 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday September 9, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Burial will follow on the Miller Family Farm in rural Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday.
