John A. McLuckie

John A McLuckie of Frontenac, KS passed away 3:18am Wednesday July 3, 2024 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas. John was born August 7, 1956, in Frontenac, Kansas, the son of Alex and Eva Giacometti McLuckie. John graduated from St. Mary’s Colgan High School in Pittsburg, Kansas class of 1975. John was a gifted guitarist, and played in several different bands and venues around southeast Kansas. On March 10, 1979, he married Karen Cinotto from Parsons, Kansas. They had a son, Justin McLuckie, on May 7, 1986. In 1980, he began his career at Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services, where he would stay for over 30 years, retiring as an Area Director in 2012. In 1989, John graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Social Work, and followed that up with a Master of Science from Pittsburg State in 1991. John was also very active in the community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus fraternal organization, and he founded the non-profit organization PACE Inc (Parent & Child Education). He taught classes to struggling parents and worked to heal relationships between parents and their children. John was always full of life, he was an avid fisherman, a dedicated father, and a loving husband. He is survived by his son Justin McLuckie of Olathe, Kansas. His Sister Mary Carol Martinous (Farris), and Nephew Paul Martinous (and family) of Pittsburg, Kansas; and his Niece Maria Martinous (and Family) of Frontenac, Kansas. John was preceded in death by his wife Karen, and his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Tuesday July 9, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, KS with Fr. Josh Evans as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family will recite the rosary at 7:00pm Monday July 8, 2024 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends following the rosary. In lieu of the flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to ALS Research and/or Harry Hynes Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
