Jeannette Lucille (Jan) Yoakum's Obituary
Jeannette Lucille (Jan) Yoakum, 86 of Arma, KS died at 9pm, Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Arma Care Center following a long illness.
She was born August 2, 1937 in Norfolk, NE the daughter of John Wesley and Lucille (Whitwer) Burt.
On Dec 21, 1955 she was united in marriage to Lee Yoakum; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2017.
Jan was a homemaker and a mother to her four children, she was also the mother to many baseball players, as she and Lee spent many summers coaching American Legion Baseball. She worked as a safety deposit teller for Bank four. Jan absolutely loved par taking in Neeowllah, she held the record for having the biggest scarecrow collection.
She was a long time member of the first United Methodist Church in Independence. She was an avid bowler playing for the Jake’s Fireworks Team.
Survivors include a daughter: Lori (Tommy) Yoakum-Amberg of Arma, KS; a son Kenny (Lisa) Yoakum of Arma, KS; 2 granddaughters: Jessica (Eli) Anderson and Jordan Yoakum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Jay Yoakum, a daughter LeAnn Nelson, and a sister Jeannine Crotty.
Funeral services will be 10am, Saturday February 3, 2024 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, with Pastor Duane Elmore. Graveside services will be the same day at 2pm at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9am until service time. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics and/or Arma Care Center Activity Fund; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
