Janice Marie Mertz's Obituary
Janice Mertz, 63, passed away unexpectedly, and peacefully in her sleep on February 12, 2025, at her home in Pittsburg, KS.
Janice Mertz was born on September 26, 1961 in Kansas City, KS, to Arnold Mertz and Lorma Reese and raised in Turner, KS.
Janice graduated from Turner High School and attended Pittsburg State University.
Janice married Bob N. Haslip on Dec 18, 1999 in Springfield, MO, and divorced Sept 28, 2000, no children were born of the union.
Janice is survived by Dawna Alford of the home, her dearest friend Georgiana Williams, and five brothers: Leo A, Robert W (Pat), Gene W (Betty), Edward A, Daniel V (Sheila), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice is preceded in death by her beloved parents; Arnold William Mertz, and Lorma Fay Mertz (Reese).
Memorial donations can be made in Janice's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or SEK Humane Society.
Janice was loved completely, deeply and truly, and she loved completely, deeply and truly. Her unconditional love knew no bounds. She fiercely protected those whom she loved. Janice will be deeply missed on this earth but, when our time comes to be with the lord, what a reunion there will be in heaven.
Janice was the epitome of Joy. She was a true friend and gave great counsel, her friends were her family.
Janice assisted building her home church in Springfield, MO with Pastor Lottie Louise Boyet; her spiritual pastor for whom she had the greatest love and respect. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, she was his hands and feet, a true child of God.
She read the bible extensively and researched the Hebrew.
She loved the water, and when young would water ski with her father at their lake home at the Lake of the Ozarks, one of her greatest passions.
With being the youngest and the only daughter, with 5 older brothers, she was fearless.
Janice said she was called to live in Pittsburg as it was the land of her forefathers. Her home was her sanctuary, her place of peace.
She aspired to have a 1950 Chevrolet 3100 with five windows preferably in red.
Janice said when her time came to be with the Lord she would do so with Joy: "To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord." -2 Corinthians 5:8
