James Nelson Simone's Obituary
James Nelson Simone (Jim), 79, of Bandera, TX passed away December 25, 2022 at Menger Springs Kendall House in Boerne, TX. He was born March 15, 1943 in Columbus, KS, the son of Louie D. and Helen (Pearson) Simone.
Jim attended Columbus high school, class of 1961. He attended the University of Kansas for a short while before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his service he worked as a radio technician.
On December 27, 1969 he married Julie Maris in Welch, OK. They shared almost 53 wonderful years together.
Jim worked as an instrumentation technician before moving into a career in sales across a variety of industries. Following retirement, he enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, and spending time with family. He had an infectious laugh and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Simone (Bandera, TX); daughter, Missy and husband Kyle Grant and their children Grace, Elijah, Gabriel, and Sarah (Dallas, TX); two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Miessler (Independence, KS) and Therese Wilkinson (Scammon, KS); cousin Steve Pearson (Shawnee Mission, KS); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS. Interment will be at Walker Cemetery in Welch, OK.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Family will receive friends following the rosary from 7-8 pm at the funeral home, 611 S. East Ave. Columbus, KS 66725.
