James L. Brisbin's Obituary
James L. Brisbin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep Christian faith, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Pittsburg, Kansas at 77 years old.
Born in April of 1949 in Independence, Missouri, to James and Deloris Brisbin, James came into the world as the oldest of ten children -- a role that shaped his
gentle, steady nature from his earliest years.
Answering the call of his country, James proudly served in the United States Army in the Artillery. He carried himself with the quiet discipline and dependability that military service instills, virtues that stayed with him all the days of his life.
After his service to our country, James built a career in property management for businesses across Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He was a man who worked hard and took pride in doing things right -- the kind of man you could count on to show up and see things through.
Those who knew James remember him as someone with a rare and wonderful gift -- a knack for finding the treasures in life that others might walk right past, and an even rarer ability to bring out the very best in the people around him. His kind soul and gentle demeanor had a way of making every person feel seen and valued. He did not need grand gestures; a quiet word, a steady presence, a warm smile -- that was James.
Faith was the bedrock of James's life. His Christian faith was not something he wore only on Sundays -- it was woven into everything he did and every person he touched. He lived it humbly and genuinely, the way it is meant to be lived.
James is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Vickie, whose love and companionship were among the greatest treasures of his life; 2 children and 2 grandchildren. He is also survived by 7 siblings, the family he helped watch over since the very beginning.
James L. Brisbin leaves behind a world that is quieter without him, and hearts that are fuller for having known him. He was, in every sense of the word, a good man.
