Harry Strukel's Obituary
Harry Strukel, 94, of Girard, KS passed away on November 29, 2025, at Mercy Pittsburg Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1931, to Anton and Angeline Strukel.
Harry grew up in Franklin, KS and graduated from Arma High School in 1949. His nickname was Red and for many years he held the javelin school record. Shortly thereafter he proudly served his country in the Korean War.
On November 11, 1955, he married Donna Allai. Together they had a son, John, and a daughter, Gayle.
A hardworking and talented mechanic, Harry spent much of his life in the automotive trade. He worked first for Evans Motors and later M&M Motors. In 1972, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening his own business, Strukel’s Auto Service. He was proud to be joined later in the business by his son. His skill, honesty, and dedication to his customers earned him lasting respect throughout the community.
Outside of work, Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and could often be found trying his luck at the slot machines. His steady work ethic and gentle spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, and his daughter, Gayle Jeffress. Survivors include his son John (Lisa) Strukel, granddaughter Ashley (Patrick) Martin, grandson Eric (Paige) Strukel, and great-grandchildren Bradey Strukel, Macie Martin, Marlie Martin, Maggie Martin, Breckyn Strukel, and Brahm Strukel.
A visitation will be held from 6-7pm on Tuesday, December 2nd. Funeral service will be at 11am on Wednesday, December 3rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Girard Medical Center Foundation. These can be left or mailed to Friskel Funeral Home 230 East McKay, Frontenac, KS 66763.
