Harriet Hazel Snyder's Obituary
Harriet Hazel Snyder, 85 of Weir, KS, died June 13, 2024 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born July 15, 1938 in Fredonia, KS the daughter of Alonzo and Etta Mae (Carroll) Conrad.
Harriet graduated from Fredonia High School in 1957. She went on to attend Cosmetology school at Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University. She received her certificate in April, 1958.
On May 23, 1958 she was married to Donald Picht, they later divorced. On February 14, 1990 she married Otis Snyder in Iola, KS; he preceded her in death on December 3, 2011.
Harriet worked at a jewelry store and as a Ward Clerk at Hadley Hospital in Hays, KS. She then worked at the State Hospital in Osawatomie, KS as a Ward Clerk from 1978 until her retirement in 2003.
She was a former member of the Red Hat Society. She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed crocheting when she was younger and loved her hummingbirds, frogs, turtles and flowers.
Survivors include two daughters: Kristina Beckman of Norman, OK and Rebecca Krause of Weir, KS; a son Phillip (Stacy) Picht of Ft. Scott, KS; a sister Ida Buchanan of Fredonia, KS along with 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Donald Picht and Otis Snyder, sisters: Betty Youngstrom, Nadine Timmons, Lola Reinhart, Lulu Conrad and brothers: Junior Conrad, Martin Conrad and Lee Conrad.
Graveside services will be at the Fredonia City Cemetery on July 13th at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762.
