Gladys Lavon Cunnigham, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018-at the age of 99. She was born March 10, 1919 in Beulah, Kansas, the daughter of the late George and Mabel (nee Bowman) Bailey. She was the middle Read Obituary
When I think of Gladys, I think of her laugh and huge smile. I loved her sense of adventure and her love of travel. It was fun to hear about the wonderful places she was fortunate enough to visit. My fondest wish for her is that she’s with her beloved Keith. My deepest condolences to her family. They love her and she’ll be missed.
Aunt Gladys was an amazing person who was loved and admired by many. What I remember most about her was that she was always game to try or do anything and always up for an adventure. She truly had a zest for life that was unmatched by most. She accomplished many different things throughout her life; from installing wiring on B-17 Bombers during WWII, to being a board member of several corporations and becoming president of charitable organizations. She and Uncle Keith traveled to many different countries as well as to most of the U.S. states making new friends wherever she went. I was told recently that when she would meet anyone new, they instantly became a new friend to her and she treated them as such. She was very generous and helped many different causes as well as her friends and family members. She was certainly a “one-of-a-kind” woman and she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Aunt Gladys loved to have a good time and smile and laugh. I was always amazed when I heard about her many travels- she had such a sense of adventure. We shared a love of books and we would recommend titles to each other. I hope she and Uncle Keith are together again planning their next adventure together!
My love of travel began when I traveled to Ireland with my Aunt Gladys. We had a wonderful time and I haven't stopped traveling since. She loved life and didn't believe in looking back with regrets. I only hope I can try to do the same. I will miss her greatly.
