Geraldine Brumbaugh's Obituary
Geraldine “Jerry” Brumbaugh, 92, of Pittsburg, KS died 10:15am Saturday December 24, 2022 at her home following an illness.
Jerry was born August 5, 1930 in Frontenac, KS the daughter of Vincent V. and Lenna G. (Martin) Ponchur. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Frontenac High School. On July 18, 1953 Jerry married William J. Brumbaugh in Frontenac, KS; he preceded her in death on December 7, 1990. Jerry worked as a telephone operator in her early years at Southwestern Bell Telephone. She also worked several years at Newman’s Department Store.
Jerry was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS; volunteered at the St. Mary’s Altar Society; a member of AARP and was active in Bridge Clubs. She also played golf and was a member of Crestwood Country Club. In her later years Jerry became an avid fan of Royals baseball, Kansas City Chiefs football and KU basketball.
Survivors include her children Teri L. Geilfuss and husband Oscar of Broken Arrow, OK; Curt A. Brumbaugh and wife Tami of Pittsburg, KS; William K. Brumbaugh and wife Mona of Pittsburg, KS and John V. Brumbaugh and wife Melissa of Kansas City; 5 grandchildren, Lindsey (Alex) Carradine, Taylor (Kip) Whiteley, Ryan (Allison) Forsythe, Stephan Brumbaugh, Erin (Cody) Brumbaugh; 7 great grandchildren, Jayde, Jaxon and Jordan DuVall; Carter and Reid Forsythe; Liam and Eliza Massa.
In addition to her husband, Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Vincent Ponchur Jr and wife Therese, granddaughter Sara Welch, and grandson Derek Brumbaugh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Friday January 6, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Chris Rumback as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family will recite the rosary at 6:00pm Thursday January 5, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may call the funeral home after 2:00pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
