Gerald D. York's Obituary
Gerald D. York, 86, of Pittsburg, KS passed away on October 29, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 1, 1935 in Rural Lawton, KS, the son of Walter and Nellie (Eddington) York.
He was a graduate of Columbus High School and a member of the Lawton Baptist Church in Lawton, KS.
On July 3, 1953, Gerald married Shirley M. Smith at the Lawton Baptist Church.
Gerald was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He also worked for Wilkinson Coal Company for many years and Cherokee County Highway, until he retired in 2000.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, 6 children; Audrey Dietz and husband Tom, Saundra Dietz and husband Darrel, Jerry York and wife Mariann, Jeff York and wife Melissa, Brent York and wife Mary Ann, Ruth Gazaway and husband Brian, 15 grandkids, 17 great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings; Harold York, Herschell York, Ruth Hitchcock, Marie Good, W.L York Jr., Robert York, Jim York.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11 a.m at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crocker Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 10am, prior to the funeral at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
