I have very warm memories of Gerald and Leslie and their children Katie and John from time at Siegelsbach Germany. They became “family” to us at a time when we felt far from home. Thank you, Gerald and Leslie, for your Christian love and kindness. Leslie, I am sorry to hear of Gerald’s passing. May you feel the comforting arms of Jesus in Gerald’s absence.
Colonel Luttrell was my 59th Ordnance Brigade Commander when I assumed command of the 73rd Ordnance Battalion in 1998. Though I only served under him for a few months, Colonel Luttrell greatly mentored me and encouraged me. I will never forget his leadership, example, dedication, and friendship. May God bless and comfort his family as they mourn his death.
I was Colonel Luttrell’s Executive Officer when he Commanded the 16th Corps Support Group in Hanau Germany. It saddens my wife and I to hear of his passing. There are few men I have known who measures up to Col Luttrell, he was a mentor not just in military matters but in life. His dedication to his family, faith and the nation were exemplary. He was more than my Commander he was a friend who tried to teach me how to strike the right balance in the demands of life. Our best wishes to his family at this time of loss, know that the measure of a man goes beyond the memories of their immediate loved ones and is in large part how he is remembered by others. He was the best America has to offer the world and he will be missed.
Gerald was someone that I had the greatest respect in the world for. He is a fellow veteran and a great man. He will always be faster then me in the hurdles no matter how hard I tried, but he never ragged me about it, he knew if you wanted to get better, you had to compete against the very best, and he was one of them. I am terribly sorry for your loss. I am so glad that I was at the last reunion (my first). And had a chance to visit with him even for just a few short minutes. I, just as you will miss him very much because I had planned to try to get together with him this summer after school was out so that we could possibly visit and talk about our time in the military. I served 27 year all together and wouldn’t have missed any of it because of the lifelong friends I made and I am sure he did the same. Again I am so deeply sorry for you loss. Chris Doussa
We had the pleasure of meeting Gerald several times while visiting Katie in her Bible class in Edmond, OK. We have known Katie for many years and are truly sorry for your loss. May God provide peace and comfort to the entire family during this time.

To the Luttrell family, my wife and I were saddened to hear of Gerald’s passing. He was such a gracious, kind and giving Christian man.
