George Michael Burns of Girard, Kansas died on August 1, 2020 in Eudora, Kansas after an extensive two year battle with prostate cancer. George was born in Pforzheim, West Germany on April 20th, 1958 and adopted by George and Mina Read Obituary

So sorry to hear, Joeen, your family has been in our thoughts. As everyone has said George was really a special guy, friendly to all and a pleasure to be around. I can say my life was enriched by being good friends when Donna & I worked in the hospital kitchen way back in 1976-1980.
GMB, as he wrote on all of his kitchen notes, will be missed dearly. I had the privilege of working for him for for 8 years. His funny, energetic, loving, and sensitive persona was always a pleasure. He was so incredibly witty. He loved his family dearly and we all knew it. If someone called in sick, he immediately took the job of dish room maiden and let one of us fill the void. He always had a great joke or a Christmas song to sing (any time of year). He definitely made a lasting impression on me. He was the best. Rest easy, George.
I've worked at Via Christi since 1991 and George was always a cheerful presence in the cafeteria and any where else I saw him. Sincere condolences to all of his family.

I thought the world of George. He was always so nice and had a positive attitude no matter how tired he was or how much pain he was in. My heart goes out to his family. He’ll be truly missed.

I will forever treasure our heart-to-heart talks. He was a hard working man who cared sincerely for his team and served with passion and creativity. I deeply miss his presence in the world, but also take comfort that he is now where I look forward to going: home at last with our loving God and Savior, at peace and untouched by grief and suffering.
