Gary Dean Wilson's Obituary
Gary Dean Wilson, 69 of rural Pittsburg, KS died Wednesday January 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.
Gary was born July 30, 1953 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Lonnie Joe Wilson and Leona Ruth Carter.
On August 6, 1983, he was united in marriage to Christine Crowel in Cedar Park, TX; Christine survives the home.
Gary served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979 and was stationed in Del Rio, TX, for the duration of his service, as a member of the 47th Security Police Division. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in less than six months, was Airman of the month, and runner up for Airman of the year.
Gary served as a Law officer in Texas for 15 years. He also worked for Heartland Electric for several years.
Gary was a member of the Open Door Fellowship church, serving as an elder and was a former member of the Lighthouse Church; both in Pittsburg.
Additional survivors include two sons: Clifford (Joanne) Wilson of Abilene, TX, Christopher (Stacie) Wilson of Pittsburg, KS; three daughters: Evette (Jake) Woods of Humboldt, KS, Lindsay (Thomas) Giddens of Winfield, KS, Christine (Michael) Seeley of Springfield, MO; siblings: Ron (Shirley) Wilson and Jack (Sammie) Wilson both of Kansas City, MO, Laura Burton of Lawrence, KS, Molly Leonard of Pittsburg and Joey Wilson of Lawton, KS; along with 8 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Brieanna, Cooper, Brian, Rylee, Alivia, Julie and Jessie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lonnie Wilson and his wife Sherry, a nephew Tommy Wilson and one grandchild Josie Angel Giddens.
Funeral services will be 3pm February 1st, 2023 at the Open Door Fellowship Church located at 918 W. 20th ST. Pittsburg, KS, with pastors Don Talent, Daryl Gaddy and Rod Perez officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church from 1:30 pm until service time on Wednesday. A private family inurnment will be at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery on Friday February 3rd .
