Frank Zaccarello's Obituary
Frank Zaccarello 96, of Columbus, KS died 10:27am Tuesday June 14, 2016 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus, KS following an illness.
Frank was born March 3, 1920 in Capaldo, KS the son of Mike and Amelia (Sesso) Zaccarello. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of West Mineral High School in 1938.
Frank served his country in World War II in the Army Air force. On November 14, 1945 Frank married Lorene Scott at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS; she survives at the home.
Frank after the war worked for Ralph Windle Ford Dealership in Columbus, KS and later the Columbus Farmer’s COOP for 25 years working as Manager. He was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Columbus, KS; Knights of Columbus; American Legion Columbus, KS; sang in a local quartet; was a sports enthusiast, Past Legion Commander; PSU Gorilla Fan and loved to dance.
Survivors include his wife; son Mike Zaccarello and wife Sandy of Sapulpa, OK; grandchildren Cassie Gilman, Michelle Holdgrafer and Tammy Chambers; 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mary Wadino, Angeline Kruger and Lillian Lanning.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Friday June 17, 2016 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Columbus, KS with Fr. Chrysostom Au Maung as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Scammon, KS. Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm Thursday June 16, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS. Family will receive friends at the funeral home following the rosary. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 611 S. East Ave. Columbus, KS 66725. E-mail condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
