Esther L. Daneke's Obituary
PITTSBURG, KS – Esther L. Daneke, 89, of Pittsburg, died March 30,
2016 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born June 8, 1926 the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt
and Cypha Dumbauld Breed. She had lived in Pittsburg since January
of 2005 and had previously lived in various communities in Kansas and
Missouri. She was graduated from Kansas City, MO Junior College in
1945, Kansas State University with a BS degree in Chemistry in 1947
and Pittsburg State University with a MS degree in education in the 1970’
s.
She married Charles D. Daneke on June 8, 1947 in Wichita, KS. He
preceded her in death in August of 2003.
Mrs. Daneke was a 5th grade school teacher at Lincoln Elementary
School in Independence, Kansas for 19 years, prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg, where
she was an ordained deacon and elder of the church, a 50+ member of
PEO and the retired teachers association.
Survivors include two daughters Gretchen Graf of Grand Forks, ND,
and Betsy Daneke Kubacki (Dr. Tim Kubacki) of Cavango, Angola,
Africa, two sons Dennis Daneke (Karen Harrison) of Lolo, MT, and Bill
Daneke of Pittsburg, KS, one brother Ted Breed of Denver, CO, and
one sister Betty Dunn of Minneapolis, MN, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-
grandchildren.
The family will receive their friends from 6 to 7 pm Sunday, April 3,
2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg,
KS. Burial will be Monday, April 4, 2016 in the Topeka, KS Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime after 3 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. In
lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity in her
