Ernest D. Lawrence's Obituary
Ernest D. Lawrence 82, of Frontenac, KS died 6:15pm Wednesday October 8, 2025 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO following an illness.
Ernest was born April 3, 1943 in Flint, Michigan the son of Francis and Kathrine J. (Sission) Lawrence. He moved to this community 30 years ago. Ernest was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Ernest later served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years.
On July 7, 1972 Ernest married Lois J. Lovejoy in Swartz Creek , Michigan; she survives at the home.
Ernest worked as a mechanic and assembly line worker for General Motors and later Ford Motor Company. He later worked for Douglas Aircraft and later Southern California Gas Company in Anaheim, California.
Ernest was a member of the FLAG Church; he enjoyed hunting; camping; BBQ; plowing snow; Yorkies; ice cream and spending time with kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife; children Kim Lawrence of Frontenac, KS, Renae McCabe and husband Sam of Frontenac, KS, Daniel Lawrence of Riverside, CA, Thadlee Lawrence and wife Krista of Asbury, MO and Tabatha Fiechtl of Pittsburg, KS; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, son Skip Pippins, brothers Kenny Lawrence and Keith Lawrence and a sister Sherrill Weisenburger.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Wednesday October 15, 2025 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS. Family will receive friends from 1-3:00pm at the funeral home on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to Lois Lawrence to help with final expenses.
