Ernest Coffman's Obituary
Ernest Coffman, 91 of Pittsburg, KS died July 20, 2016 at Via Christi Hospital Pittsburg.
He was born February 23, 1925 in Garland County, AR the son of Tom and Mollie (Moore) Coffman.
Ernest was a WWII veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 7, 1943 and was honorably discharged on December 12, 1945
On February 27, 1949 he was united in marriage to Helen Hockett in Kansas City, MO; she survives him of the home.
He worked four years at Ford Motor Company and then took a job with Southwestern Bell where he spent 34 ½ years as an installation and repair technician retiring in 1986.
Ernest was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, gardening and working with his hands. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather. His family was very important to him along with Faith and Country.
Additional survivors include a daughter Cindy Dickens and husband Steve of Joplin, MO; a grandson Jason Dickens and a sister Edna Ballard of Kingsport, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10am, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Quaker Valley Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm Tuesday evening. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
