Eileen Whetzell's Obituary
Eileen Whetzell 87, of Pittsburg, KS died at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the Via Christi Hospital following an illness.
Eileen was born August 7, 1935 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Joseph L. and Dorothy F. (Burns) Theys. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of St. Mary’s Colgan in Pittsburg, KS. Eileen worked many years as a Daycare Provider and later an aide for the Arma Care Center in Arma, KS. Eileen was baptized Catholic. She was a member of TOPS #599 Pittsburg, KS and enjoyed baking, fill-in puzzles, books and BINGO.
Survivors include her children Dottie Glenn and husband Clifford of Beloit, WI and Karen and Bobby Young of Pittsburg, KS; sisters Dodie Rhuems of Pittsburg, KS and Sandy Strahan and husband Garry of Girard, KS and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; children William Whetzell, Iris Runyon, John Whetzell and Theresa England; daughter-in-law Lori (Gazaway) Whetzell, and grandchildren B.J. Young and Tiffany Whetzell.
Graveside Services will be 10:00am Saturday July 22, 2023 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Informal Visitation will be from 2-6:00pm Friday July 21, 2023 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS.
