Edmond F. Mummert's Obituary
Edmond F. Mummert, 76 of Osawatomie, KS, formerly of Weir, KS died Wednesday July 31, 2019 at his home following a long illness.
He was born August 16, 1942 in Los Angeles, California the son of George and Josephine (Soldano) Mummert.
On December 21, 1985 he was united in marriage to Marsha Greenwood in Miami, Oklahoma; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include Sons James and wife Bridgette Greenwood, Calvin and wife Linda Mummert; daughters Belinda Zaparinuk and husband Ken, Kelly Fowler and husband Perry, Teresa Pelkey, Marsha and Joe Nighswonger, Gayle and Gary Strahan, a sister Carol Smith; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother George Wayman Mummert.
Ed was retired from University of Kansas Medical Center as a Pipefitter as well as the US Navy. He also worked at BF Goodrich in Miami in the 80’s until its closure. Ed was an avid animal lover and enjoyed rescuing stray cats.
Graveside services will be 11am, Tuesday August 6, 2019 at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery. The procession to the cemetery will leave the Weir Funeral Home at 9:45am on Tuesday. Family will receive friends at the funeral home in Weir from 5-6:30 pm Monday evening. Memorials may be made to Paws On The Heartland and/or Rescue Me KC; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
